I am a photographer based in the Calder Valley of West Yorkshire. I’m drawn particularly to Victorian indoor markets, how people and light interact within these spaces. I look for how light falls on architecture. I’m inspired by the natural landscape and particularly how it coexists with the man made.
My background was working in mental health and then in managing the landscapes of West Yorkshire. These have left an indelible mark on my creative eye.
I’ve realised that you have to work at creating good photos rather than relying on luck. My photography is now an integral part of my life and if anyone asks what I do, I tell them I’m a photographer. I now have a creative identity.
